SDP Blue Blood, 2x AQHA Working Cow Horse World Champion
As a child growing up in Seneca, Kansas, Matt Koch always had horses around, and he spent many hours of his childhood in the saddle. When it came time to pick a college, Matt decided to attend Lamar Community College to study in their horse training and management program because he always dreamed of being able to train horses able to do whatever task he asked of them. He began his career in horse training working for cutting horse trainer and fellow Team UltraCruz® member Lloyd Cox starting 2-year-olds. He also worked for Robbie Boyce and Darren Miller. In 2011, Koch rode SDP Blue Blood to win the inaugural Level One at the Snaffle Bit Futurity. The duo also made the finals of the World’s Greatest Horseman in 2015 and 2016. And, in 2016, Matt was the NRCHA Stallion Stakes Open Reserve Champion with Dual With A Shiner. Matt has also successfully hauled to the AQHA World Show four times and brought home the World Champion trophy in Working Cow Horse every time. Matt gives a lot of credit for his success to his wife, Brianna, who he said has helped him in every way possible. Matt, Brianna and their son, Oliver, now make their home near Elizabeth, Colorado.
