About Kelby Phillips

Kelby Phillips has quickly risen to being one of the top reined cow horse trainers in the country. He has ridden and trained some of the best horses in recent NRCHA history. On his path towards becoming a leading trainer, Kelby has worked for several cow horse legends, including Ken Wold, Bozo Rogers and Zane Davis. In 2013, Kelby and a red roan stallion named Hickory Holly Time to the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Intermediate Open Championship. The pair went on to be the 2014 NRCHA Open Derby Champion, 2015 NRCHA Open Stakes Reserve Champion, and 2016 NRCHA Open Hackamore World Champion. In 2016, Kelby rode Duals Lucky Charm to win the NSHA Snaffle Bit Futurity with a 660 composite score, setting them up to be one of the top pairs going into the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity. With a 663 composite, Duals Lucky Charm helped Kelby win his first NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Open Championship. In 2018, Kelby and Hickory Holly Time teamed up again win the NRCHA Worlds Greatest Horseman Championship. Kelby and his wife, NRCHA Non Pro Futurity Champion Abbie, reside in Weatherford and trains out of Taylor Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch.
