About Justin Wright

Justin Wright has been a dominant force in the reined cow horse world for the past few years. Prior to making the transition to a professional rider, Justin has quite a bit of success as a non pro. He was the 2006 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Int Non Pro Reserve Champion and Non Pro 3rd with Smart Prize, as well as the 2007 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Non Pro Reserve Champion with Talkin Prize. Justin made the change to become a professional trainer in 2009 and the next year, he was the NRCHA Intermediate Open Reserve Champions with No Chic Flicks. His first major aged events win was the 2017 NRCHA Derby Open Championship with Lil Bay Hawk. Later that year he was the NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Open Reserve Champion with Shiners Diamond Cat, with whom he also won the 2018 NRCHA Derby. Justin and Scooter Kat have together won over $270,000 thanks to winning the 2019 NRCHA Stakes, 2020 NRCHA Stakes, and 2020 NRCHA Derby. During this time, Justin rose to the ranks of an NRCHA Million Dollar Rider. 2021 was a momentous year for Justin, as he won NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Open Championship with Zak 34 (also placing 3rd with San Juan Ranch’s SJR Royal Diamond). He currently resides in California, training out of Eric Freitas’s ranch in Santa Maria.
